  1. Mahasiswa memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup tentang batubara Mahasiswa mampu memahami hubungan proses terjadinya batubara dengan lingkungan pengendapan dan petrologi organik batubara
  2. Mahasiswa mampu memahami kualitas dan penggolongan batubara Mahasiswa memahami teknik eksplorasi yang biasa untuk batubara serta cara menghitung dan menggolongkan sumberdaya batubara
  3. Mahasiswa mampu mempersiapkan ”model geologi batubara bawah permukaan” untuk suatu daerah agar siap dikembangkan lebih lanjut Mahasiswa mengetahui hubungan penggunaan batubara dan dampaknya terhadap lingkungan serta cara menanggulanginya
  4. Mahasiswa mampu memahami perkembangan teknologi terbaru dalam penggunaan khusus batubara.
