| Bahan Kajian | - Konsep ekologi kunci: definisi dan cakupan; faktor iklim dan edafik; respons organisme terhadap kondisi lingkungan (cahaya, air, dan nutrien).
- Karaktersitik dan keragaman hutan: konsep keragaman; stratifikasi hutan; keragaman tumbuhan, primata, burung, serangga, dan mikroba; peran ekologis biota di hutan.
- Tipologi hutan: karakteristik berbagai tipe hutan dan sebarannya di Indonesia.
- Dinamika hutan: reproduksi ekologi untuk menunjang regenerasi hutan dan suksesi; interaksi ekologis.
- Proses-proses dalam ekosistem hutan: neraca air dan energy, neraca karbon, dekomposisi dan siklus nutrien, penggunaan nutrisi oleh tumbuhan.
- Hutan dalam perspektif bentang alam: hutan sebagai patch dan karakteristiknya (ukuran dan bentuk).
