- Understand the design concepts of flying vehicles, including both aircraft and spacecraft, and be able to explain and describe the design concepts, requirements, and reasoning behind the design of various aerospace vehicles.
- Understand the terminology and basic parameters of aviation science, which includes the air transportation system, aircraft operations, and maintenance, and be able to explain the concepts of aviation operations and management systems for aircraft.
- Understand the terminology and basic parameters of astronautical science and technology, covering at least the disciplines of Astrodynamics, Orbital Mechanics, and Rocket Propulsion, and be able to explain basic astronautical technology concepts and spacecraft design.
